Types of Insurance

Insurance Definition

Insurance is a financial agreement in which an individual or business (the policyholder) pays a price (called the premium) to an insurance company (the insurer) in exchange for protection against specific financial loss.

How does it work?

Most common insurance policy is the auto insurance policy. A part from that yearly price in exchange for that guarantee to cover damages (the price will very per individual). Most, if not all agreements allow for a merit or “points system”-which is why some people call it “The Insurance Game”. ( points are added or removed based on your driving history) during a specific “term” (0 to 7 years). If you have no driving history you are also considered high risk. The more points you have, the higher of a risk you are to insurance companies. The higher the risk, the higher the price. The only way to save money is to understand how to play the game.

Charleston, South Carolina in 1735 to the modern area

The first insurance company in the United States was the Friendly Society, which was established in Charleston, South Carolina in 1735. However, the first insurance company to be organized in the American colonies was the Philadelphia Contributionship, which was founded in 1752 by Benjamin Franklin. The Philadelphia Contributionship was a mutual insurance company that specialized in fire insurance.

The insurance industry today is undergoing a remarkable transformation, driven by innovation and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of consumers. With the advent of advanced technology, insurance providers are utilizing data analytics, and digital platforms to enhance the customer experience, streamline claims processes, and offer personalized coverage options.
